ACEI recieves many calls and letters from people around the world who have questions about how to interact with us and how to access the services we offer. This section provides answers to many of the questions we receive. If you don't find the answer you are looking for, email us and we will answer your questions promptly.

- What is the difference between Notarized and Certified copies and who or where can I get them notarized/certified?
Notarized copies are stamped by a legal notary and can be notarized from any legal notary in your area. Certified copies of documents
prepared by the institution, consulate, or attorney. (See section Academic Documents on Academic
Evaluation page of this site.

- Do I have to have translations done by an official translation service or can I translate the documents myself?
You must have the translations done by a certified translator/service, such as our Translation Service.
- How many copies of each of the documents do I need to send in?
Submit 2 copies (sets) of all your documents. (See Section 4a on application)
- How long does the evaluation process take?
Anywhere from 1 to 15 business days depending on which service you pay for (see application). (See Section 2a on application)
- Will my evaluation be accepted by any college/university in the United States ?
Most institutions in the United States will accept our evaluations. However, you should verify with the particular institution before having an evaluation completed by ACEI.
- Does my evaluation expire and if not, how do I obtain additional copies in the future?
Your application, credentials and evaluation will remain in our archives for a period of 3 years from the date of the filing of your initial application after which time it will be destroyed. Requests for extra official reports received after the 3-year period will be subject to reevaluation requiring a new application and the submission of educational credentials and fees.
- By what procedure/standards are my academic transcripts evaluated and by whom and will my evaluation recommend the exact degree in the country I studied?
The U.S. educational equivalencies recommended, are in accordance with established guidelines and represent the considered judgements of qualified evaluators and there is no guarantee of a specific degree equivalency.
- Can I submit my documents in person?
We do not accept walk-ins. Please submit all documents by mail.
- If I send in my originals, will you return them?
Submit original documents only if requested by ACEI. In the event ACEI requires your original documents, please submit them with 2 complete sets of copies. Mail your originals and copies by
USPS Certified Mail or other secure mail services (e.g. FedEx, UPS, etc.) and include the shipping and handling fees on your ACEI Application so that we can return your originals to you by either Certified Mail or secure mail (overnight/next day) service.
- May I pay by personal check for Rush Services?
No. Payments must be made by credit card (American Express, Discover, Visa or Mastercard only), Money Order, or Cashiers Check. (Refer to Section 2. Processing Time, 2b. Rush Service - Academic Evaluation)
- What is your address?
- How may I reach a representative of ACEI directly?
We ask that all inquiries are submitted by email, fax or mail. However, if a return call is needed, all calls are returned within 24 business hours. (see How to Contact Us, or the first page of the application)
